The task of preventing and controlling myopia among adolescents is arduous and of great significance, and time is of the essence. Education departments at all levels in Shandong Province and a large number of educators will earnestly implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, focusing on the following key areas of work. First, integrate the prevention and control of adolescent myopia into a legal framework and promote the comprehensive implementation of myopia prevention measures in accordance with the law. The "Shandong Province Student Physical Health Promotion Regulations" will be promulgated and implemented in mid-month. The regulations stipulate that schools must offer physical education courses in accordance with national and provincial regulations and must not reduce or encroach upon physical education class hours; they must organize extracurricular physical activities, ensuring that students have at least one hour of physical activity on campus every day; primary and secondary schools must fully implement a large break physical activity system, arranging no less than 30 minutes of large break physical activities every morning. Schools that reduce or encroach upon physical education class hours and fail to ensure the required physical activity time for students will face legal penalties for the main responsible persons and those directly accountable. The promulgation of these regulations will provide important legal support for strengthening the prevention and control of myopia among children and adolescents in our province. Second, improve visual health records and a three-level early warning monitoring system to enhance the quality of myopia prevention and control work. Led by the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, various levels of adolescent vision impairment prevention and treatment centers will utilize a life-cycle eye health three-level early warning monitoring system to comprehensively conduct vision tests for students and establish visual health records for adolescents; regularly track and monitor students' visual health status and manage them in tiers, providing early warnings for students at high risk of myopia, achieving a comprehensive intervention model of "treating false cases, preventing true cases, and controlling progression." Third, utilize internet and cloud platform technologies to establish a life-cycle eye health data platform for adolescents in Shandong Province, improving the informatization and scientific level of myopia prevention and control work. The Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission's health examination center, and various maternal and child health care hospitals, along with the Provincial Adolescent Vision Impairment Prevention and Treatment Center, will achieve data interconnectivity, allowing for real-time storage, monitoring, and analysis of students' vision examination data, and providing early warnings for high-risk groups for myopia.
